January 2010 Annual Report

We are a group that meets several times a year for brainstorming new ideas and planning activities and events.  The seeds of many opportunities for involvement started with a presentation or suggestion to the team. 

Recurring …

·      Bowling & Billiards … This was the first of the social events for adults and was planned to bring some fun to the January doldrums.  We are having our third annual party this afternoon at Frankfort Bowl. 

·      Habitat for Humanity … A very dedicated group of our members have volunteered their time to help build several homes in Riverdale over the past few years.  This past year, several kids from our youth group joined them for a week of service.

·      Spiritual Yoga … A second weekly class was added in October ~ we now have classes on Mondays at 6PM and Wednesdays at 7PM.  Kathy Ruiter teaches how to achieve physical health, psychological well being and spiritual peace.  All skill levels and ages participate.

·      Grandparents Day … to honor those who love us ~ no matter what!

·      Fall Fun Fest … We have many volunteers for this family event of food, fun, and a little fundraising ~ Wayne’s famous breakfast, the Youth Group’s treats for the Sunday School kids, Doug’s magic show, games and a bake sale.

·      Wine Tasting … This third time event continues as a favorite ~ fun and educational at the same time.  And during the holidays … a shopping opportunity.

New this past year …

·        Ladies’ Night Out … The success of this first-time event will definitely bring a repeat.  An occasion for an evening of pampering, shopping, entertainment, and enlightenment was enjoyed by all.  Women-owned businesses were invited to sell their goods and services.  Kathy Ruiter shared the mental and physical benefits of Laughing Yoga.  Tony and Catherine Dean gave us their up close and personal show of Dancing With The Stars.

This is YOUR forum to get a program or event started or find ways to get involved ~ we welcome new people and new ideas.  Meeting dates will be posted in the newsletter and bulletin.  In the interim, if you have a suggestion or proposal, please call or email the church office.
